Frontend Performance Modernization
Systematic performance audit and optimization of high-traffic React/Next.js applications: ~70% faster page loads, optimized 10k+ row views, and ~40% fewer unnecessary API calls.
Overview
A codebase-wide performance pass across several high-traffic React and Next.js products, treating load time as a first-class product metric rather than a one-off fix.
The Challenge
Pages were shipping large, mostly-unused JS bundles, images were loading at full resolution regardless of viewport, and tables rendering thousands of rows were locking up the main thread — all compounding into slow Core Web Vitals scores on high-traffic pages.
Approach
Ran a full Lighthouse and bundle audit to identify the heaviest dependencies and the routes with the worst Core Web Vitals
Introduced route-level and component-level lazy loading so pages only ship the JS they actually need
Replaced full-resolution images with responsive, optimized delivery via Next.js Image
Added list virtualization to tables and feeds rendering 10,000+ rows, so only visible rows mount to the DOM
Enforced the audit's findings as ongoing practice — tree-shaking dead code and setting a bundle-size baseline for new PRs
Cut page load times by roughly 70% on the affected high-traffic applications and moved their Core Web Vitals scores into the green — directly improving both user experience and conversion-sensitive pages.
